Overall, she’s had a wonderful experience so far; full of light, learning, and friendship. Katara is positive she wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world, especially because of how it brought Aang into her life. But still—
She whirls, too fast, and a gate catches the curve of her shoulder blade. Katara trips over her own foot, crying out in pain, and falls off of the platform, landing solidly onto her back with an oomph!
“Ow,” she whines, unwittingly, as Aang dashes to her in a panic.
It’d be nice to be good at this— actual airbending.

Summary
Graham thought his reign as king would have hardened him, but it's been years and there's little room for putting away all emotions. His best distraction is to focus on Daventry's safety, specifically shift focus from defending against goblins to dragons.
If anyone asked what dragons did to him, they didn't know him at all. Perhaps that's best; he does have a history of losing people he wants to be at more than arm's length.
Vee has been training all her life to inherit the kingdom of East Kolyma, imagining every scenario she overcame possible obstacles since her future was set. She never thought she could make a mistake, be at the wrong place with the wrong people.
She can't let her family or people see her humanity slowly fade with each unpredictable transformation. It's bad enough to not perfectly recall what she did in her... Alternate form.
Graham and Vee think they have no time to fall in love, but it's more than a magic curse bringing them together...

Summary
There is no magical tower or kidnapped princess(es) to rescue, of course not, Graham knows the line between fairytale and reality. But when he's left alone with his own mind, when all distractions are exhausted he has to admit what he truly wants is a happy ending and someone to share that with.
That's when the letter requesting a Daventry/Kolyma alliance arrives. Specifically, from the struggling West. Graham and Princess Valanice would exchange letters for a time leading up to former's invitation to the latter's home to court properly.
This is just royal business, Graham tells himself. This is realistic, Graham tells himself while swooning over letters before he even arrives in Kolyma.
And if romance can blossom despite Graham's general existence, Neese's concerns about being queen, visiting Princess Vee's skepticism of the entire concept and fourteen siblings declaring war... More power to them.
