Dr. Estevez asked if bruises had been appearing anywhere when there was only light trauma. Peter thought back through the past months as he looked at the vaguely unsettling medical illustrations on the walls. He thought of Neal's wrists being bruised from cuffs, which wasn't unusual. Neal had said once that it was an “occupational hazard,” and usually complained lightly about it. But he never showed signs of it actually bothering him.
Peter remembered spotting the purplish imprint of fingers on his upper arm when Neal had to change his shirt after a messy takedown. He remembered realizing the bruises were from his fingers. He'd given Neal a squeeze for a job well done.
Peter hadn't thought he'd grabbed him that hard.
