Obi-Wan hesitated. Anakin’s lightsaber was still active, still bathing its owner in the crimson light that spoke of blood and anger, but his distress was palpable in the Force. Anakin swayed, and then he toppled over in much the same way a mountain crumbled. The lightsaber carefully, slowly—as if it doubted that it should—rolled out of his fingers, dark moondust engulfing the gleaming hilt.
Anakin didn’t move.
“Oh, blast it all,” Obi-Wan breathed out, and found himself on his knees in front of the suit he’d nearly destroyed only minutes ago. His lightsaber hissed as he deactivated it and hung it on his belt, and his hands hovered over Anakin uselessly. The debris of the same rocks he’d thrown at him now dug painfully in his knees, and he could feel the way that dirt and soot were clinging to his skin, mixing with sweat.
This was the worst possible thing he could do, and he wordlessly asked for absolution as he grabbed Anakin by his armpits and began to heave him towards his starship.

Summary
After losing his hand on Cloud City and discovering that Darth Vader is his father, Luke thinks things over and comes to the conclusion that a) Vader is actually on the Rebellion's side and just hasn't realized it yet, b) Vader needs his help, c) Vader needs to figure out that he and the Rebellion want the same things, and d) the best way to accomplish both b. and c. is to (obviously) surrender to Vader and refuse to leave him alone, trusting in the Power of Love to change Vader's ways.
Leia, Ahsoka, and the rest of Luke's friends in the Alliance disagree with this, but they can't get Luke to leave, and Vader can't kill them because it would destroy his new relationship with his son (it's not that Vader is attached to them at all -- no, no). Admiral Piett is forced to open up the unused guest quarters on the Executor as the Sleepover to Restore the Republic (And Maybe Save Darth Vader in the Process) drags on and grows to unreasonable proportions.

If he’d been smart, he would have disregarded the other organics and looked at BD-1, instead. Who brought him aboard the Mantis just a few hours after they met? Who’ll spend forty tedious minutes carefully working a pebble out of his hydraulics without damaging him? Who turns into a seasoned defense lawyer every time he’s accused of leaving oil stains on the upholstery? Who inexplicably files him under the ‘cute and cuddly’ category (and treats him as such) even though the droid is made of metal and wires and spite?
Greez kicks himself later for not picking up on the obvious. Then he kindly forgives himself, because it’s been a rough week. Month. However long they’ve run themselves ragged after following the Inquisitors to Bracca and recruiting a Padawan-in-hiding who has a weakness for little droids… and, apparently, damn near everything else.

The Incident - otherwise referred to as the Thing by those who witnessed the event - was the kick in the teeth to a hard and bloody campaign.Children make mistakes. Children get unreasonable. Children get angry. Grey just wishes his Cadet didn't have to learn of the fact that Children still face Consequences whilst in the middle of a war, but you cannot change what's already been done. You can only manage the fallout. As best you can.
(It's just a pity that the Jedi cannot be as lenient. Oh yes, the Clones understand. The Jedi's abilities are based on their emotions, their stability. To keep themselves and others safe, they must be rational. But children aren't rational, and child soldiers least of all.)
Content Warning: contains violence between minors, mentions of serious bodily harm, depictions of a physical brawl between two child soldiers, references to death, and is just not a happy chapter. Please avoid if this is something you can't read. I don't mind. You are able to skip this one if you prefer, the only context it adds is to Cal and Caleb's ongoing dispute.
