She takes a deep breath and meets his searching gaze. “I’m pregnant.” For a moment, the scientist is at an uncharacteristic loss for words. “It’s yours,” she adds quickly, watching as his face shifts from stunned confusion to shock to what begins as a hint of a smile and quickly breaks into a huge, warm grin. Relief floods her body.
“I- that’s- Eva, that’s…” Grace reaches across the table and takes her smaller hands in his, tears welling in his eyes, voice thick with emotion. “That’s incredible. That’s… Eva, we’re going to have a baby.”
