Your thumbs glide across his jaw, palms across his neck, and you bury your fingers in his hair to pull it. You push him forward into your lips, kiss his forehead and start to say, “Colt—”
“Colt?” He bucks into you, eyes popping open. His breath comes up short and he has to swallow another one. He shifts his hands to clutch your hips and tips his chin down to lock eyes with you over the rims of his glasses. “Do I need to remind you who I am?”
You shake your head, but his long fingers bracket your chin and force you to nod instead. He flips you over like you weigh nothing and pins you on your back, slotting his cock into the crease of your thigh, slotting a hand into yours and lacing your fingers with his. He presses your linked hands to the pillows and leans down into your space, his chest flush with yours and his lips at your ear. You turn your head the other direction but he catches your earlobe with his teeth and squeezes your hand. The pillows smell like Ryland, like him.
“What’s my name?” he demands.

Gun still firmly at the center of his spine, he sighed and huffed and pushed himself up. He was broader than you originally thought: much, much broader, easily dwarfing you as he rose to his full height. He was at least a head taller, twice as wide, his heavy-set bones covered by a black, fur-lined hoodie over a dark crimson tank-top. The dismal light showed the various scratches along his marrow. He smiled: one sharp canine was glittering gold, the same color as the thin chain that scraped against his exposed collar bones.
You didn’t back down. For a second, neither of you moved: your gun trained at where you guessed his soul would be, his eyelights assessing you.

He seems older without them; the lines under his eyes are more prominent, and there are more shadows on his face, and his eyes are narrowed a little bit like he’s studying you.
You suck in a breath through gritted teeth, the air hissing as you tug it into your mouth. He is studying you, his hands frozen on the broom handle as he reads your body language and tries to make sense of it. He flexes his arms again to test you, and you hum, you think, or maybe whine. Heat blooms in your chest and trickles through your stomach. Grace tilts his head. His eyes narrow a little bit more. Is he judging you? He’s judging you.
