Summary
Project Hail Mary had failed, whatever happened to the humans sent light years away from Earth was a mystery. There were rumors on the space stations though; Simon had heard them from word of mouth a long time ago, about how it all ended like this. He didn't know what to believe though, not like it would matter... things don't matter much when you're dying in blood.
Meanwhile, Ryland Grace has completed his mission; all thats left to do is go back home. Not even he can believe it, that is until a strange asteroid that doesn't act like an asteroid appears in a flash of light and Rocky is adamant to do science. How can Grace deny Rocky that request?
Or; the light was a wormhole to another timeline and now there's a bloody man aboard the Hail Mary. Two strangers try to cope with their own circumstances and past and find comfort in eachother.
