When Nakayama invites him out for a drink at a new bar, Shirafuji accepts. He knows how Nakayama gets when he is drunk, he knows how his chest aches, yet Shirafuji doesn’t know better.
That’s what pining did to him and Shirafuji doesn’t have a desire to drink out his feelings when alcohol had no effect on his thoughts of the editor.

Rui stares at his back, and the door shuts in his face.
