Summary
Iruma is human. This means a lot of things for him, being the odd one out amongst the demons around him. He doesn't have horns, fangs, or a tail- but it's easy enough to dodge questions about those. Maybe it's unusual to be missing all three, but there's a large variety amongst demons. What's harder to explain away is his lack of wings, which he had been doing so well at hiding...
Except- humans are mythical creatures, to demons; so when Iruma's missing wing roots are discovered, that's not the first thing on anyone's mind. There is, in fact, a reason that a demon might be missing their wings. A horrible, horrible reason.
Never before had Iruma been grateful to have his scars.

My lungs burn, each breath scraping my throat raw. Tears blur my vision as a whimper slips free, pathetic and broken, when I feel my wounds tear open again—old cuts splitting wide, warm and slick against my skin. The scent of blood hangs around me like a beacon. I escaped the circle, the chanting, the hands that held me down while they prayed to something that listened—but escape doesn’t mean freedom. There were bolts of blue lighting dancing across the room, and guards went down left and right by something too fast for anyone to see. The guards fired into the room, panicked, but the blue blur of lighting was relentless and soon no one was left standing.
Shadow stood at the edge of the room, eyes and mouth agape as the blue blur finally stood still, standing over the unconscious guards. It was a hedgehog! It looked like–

Summary
You are a human in a world run by monsters. They don’t bother hiding most of their monstrous traits, but they do adhere to a strict roster of theatrical and performance roles. They’re given names at birth, but choose their role as they mature. Anything from Noh and Kabuki from the east, to Commedia dell’arte, there are roles to be filled. This includes mystical roles such as the major arcana and playing cards. All monsters cover their faces as a show of propriety and respect for the old ways, but they also keep humans as pets and food livestock. There are many ferals still, hidden in back alleys and forests or disguised as monsters. Fresh, feral blood is a delicacy. At least monsters have found a way to synthesize human flesh to ensure their diet is sustainable should humans become a threatened species (which has happened in the past), but many still indulge in the hunt.
Unfortunately, even while disguised as a monster yourself, you have attracted the attention of a hunter. Fortunately, or unfortunately, he wishes to devour you in a completely different way.
