every since original barbie became human, original ken slowly became plastic, plastic only melting away when in the Real World with Barbie
ken going back and forth between home in Barbieland where the plastic slowly consumes him and the Real World where the plastic melts away
eventually, the transition to plastic so fast, ken becoming mentally confused and not remembering things, ken must make a choice between becoming fully plastic in barbieland or becoming human in the Real World, ken doesn't want either of those things, barbie wants ken to stay in the real world
