Summary
Cana Ellhorn is what people would call a hermit; someone who doesn't go out if she has the choice. The Georgia wilderness surrounding her property has provided her with more than enough so that she doesn't have to interact with more than the local wildlife. And, occasionally, the small grocery mart down the road.
But one day, she's pulled back into a fight she had struggled so hard to escape years ago, by two boys who could hardly be called anything less than soldiers. Warriors. Boys who never got a childhood.
And one of them is dying.
This is why they come dig her out of self-isolation - because her reputation has preceded her. The one written by their father in his forgotten journal full of supernatural monsters.
Now the trio is on a mission to heal, to fight, and eventually, get back to what they know as normal.
