Inspired by Frankenstein
Transitioning from a strict routine to lots of free time and not much to do was jarring. But luckily, the old hut he had bought, and the land attached to it, kept him pretty busy. The roof was a leaky mess and the small porch was almost rotten through, and so he spent a full summer just fixing up his little hut. The hardwood he had to buy to repair the porch cost a pretty penny, and he wasted about four planks by cutting them too short or placing the nails incorrectly, but he had the patience to learn and improve. It felt good to do some hard work that didn't cost the lives of other people for once.

Vessel was glad he had this flat. Seriously, he had been lucky to even still have the contact number of the house's owner, after the long time he had spent... somewhere, drifting around. They were exes, unfortunately, but she was nice enough to look over that fact and give him an ok-rate, if he was willing to play live music in her pub.
