It would be a lie, if she claimed the prospect of returning home, walking the city during the night alone hadn't scared her at least a little. But now running for her life from the wolf-like beast at least twice her size gave the word 'scared' an entirely new meaning.
She could feel its putrid breath on her neck and hear its pounding leaps just behind her. In a split second decision she turned sharply running into another alley, hoping its hulking mass would be too much for the quick change of direction and buy her some time and maybe even allow her to get away.
