Summary
Entitled Gloomy Sunday, a composition by Hungarian pianist Rezsö Seress is considered to be one of the saddest songs of its time. It was inspired by the tragedies of war and the sins of the people around him that Seress created his work in 1933. In the years that followed, the song became known as the 'Hungarian suicide song'.
The version that inspired this story is the American version of Billie Holiday, which translates into words the pain of losing a great love.
