Summary
When the last scraps of the butchered pink ticket drifted idly upon the trash mound like snow, you allowed yourself to relax. Down onto the couch, into the cushions, debating the merits of a Corona light right about now. You wondered, briefly, if being in a video game would affect the effect, then laughed at yourself. You really had thought you were over this now. If a solid twenty-nine years hadn't sold it to you yet, by the gods, what would?
Nearly thirty years of existing in this world, the brief interest you had for the fictional characters had long since passed. You preferred your days away with the simple comfort of your best friend turned roommate Carol, the woman originally set to be brainwashed and eventually killed in the throes of the plot. With a bit of interference, you show her to a different fate, and keep an eye on the original main character- Morticia- while you're at it.
Alas, some intentions give way for circumstance. And, as your down trodden luck would find it, the clowns become enamored by you, one by one.
They should have focused on someone other than you. You always did know what you wanted.
Carol came first. Always.
