    Summary

Jena Dondarrion dies giving birth to Matarys, leaving Baelor with only one living son. He refuses to marry again, and determines to live his life in mourning.

Eleven years later, Maekar's eldest daughter is widowed. King Daeron decides that it is his turn to cause problems and so the best possible way to handle the resulting diplomatic incident caused by Maekar is to marry his newly widowed granddaughter to his widower heir. Exactly no one is happy about this.

(Now with added exploration of gender divides and sexism in Westeros because I physically cannot help myself.)

    Summary

Jena Dondarrion had died birthing his second nephew a few months earlier, a red-headed boy that looked just as unsuitable for the realm as Valarr before him. It was neither of their faults — the realm judged the babes on appearance alone, but appearance meant a great deal in the seven kingdoms, especially when a bastard carried the Valyrian look more than Baelor ever would. He needed an alliance that would stabilize his claim. The small council debated at length on the problem.

It appeared Maekar had very neatly solved it for them.

Or, a royal wedding helps their political interests. It does very little for their personal ones.

    Summary

A sudden heatwave has made the muggish summer weather of King’s Landing nigh-unbearable. The thick, sticky air makes it hard to breathe in the Red Keep.
It gets harder when Prince Maekar comes to visit. With him he brings all six of his children; the perpetually-drunken Daeron, the quiet and bookish Aemon, the giggling Daella and Rhae, the peasant squire Aegon, and of course, of course, Aerion.
Smirking, arrogant, beautiful Aerion arrives with all the grand ceremony of the treasured omega prince that he is, wielding the ability to reduce the usually-composed Valarr Targaryen to nothing but carnal instinct with devastating ease.
