Summary
Outside of Riko, alphas still reigned supreme in the nest, and Jean learned, intimately, the suffering that befell omegas here. Riko wouldn't hesitate to induce a rut or heat if he saw fit, and he certainly would if he noticed that Nathaniel was living a lie.
When Jean met his eyes again, shock was painting his face, "I have another six months left, but he can't…"
Jean scoffed sardonically, "Can't what? He is the King. You think he does not have access to emergency heat inducers?" And it would be a heat, Jean thought, as he took in Nathaniel's form through new context.
He dropped the wrist he grabbed earlier, moving his hands to grip tightly at Nathaniel's tense shoulders, "You cannot let Riko know the truth. If he were to find out you are not the beta you say you are, it will have disastrous consequences for us both."
Jean barely stopped himself from shaking him, "It is a slight against his intelligence for you to lie, and he will not hesitate in his attempts to own you. Already he is planning for your transfer, you ignorant fool."
"Riko is the fool if he thinks I'll leave the foxes," Nathaniel spit out with a glare.
Jean shook him, "You will not have a choice."

He leaned down until his nose brushed against Kakashi’s scar, his single right eye, with the three black tomoe spinning in a sea of bloodshot red, staring down into the grey, milky eye that couldn't focus on him. "Shut the other one. Look at me with mine."
Kakashi’s left eye dilated, the crimson wheel spinning frantically as it tried to match the rhythm of its twin. The heat flared again a burn behind the socket that made tears leak down into his temple, cutting tracks through the grey whetstone dust on his cheek.
"Forget about everything else, but me. You’re not allowed to think of anyone else but me," Obito hissed, and then his mouth was on Kakashi's throat, biting down on the tight cord of the muscle right where the neck met the shoulder.

It went like this- first, Obito died.
A great hero sacrificed himself to save some trash like Kakashi.
Then it turns out Obito was alive, kept captive by some old man.
That’s not how it went.
Again, first, Kakashi killed Rin. This time their team could be sure that she had died, since Kakashi had pierced straight through her heart, there was no coming back from that one. Obito saw Kakashi kill Rin, went ballistic and instead of killing Kakashi like the oath-breaking undeserving trash he was, Obito spared him.

“My best friend,” Mike corrected too sharply. The moment the words left him, the flare of jealousy turned into embarrassment. He couldn’t remember when he grew to hate how he sounded when the subject was Will.
William’s gaze held steady. “Do you not want him there because you fear for your friend, or because you fear what your friend might feel?”
Mike’s mouth opened, then closed. The question hit too close to the thing he’d been circling for years without touching.OR: Mike wakes up in a paladin’s body, face-to-face with a cleric who looks exactly like Will, except this Will speaks in oaths and shows him a kind of affection he doesn’t feel he deserves.
Back home, someone else is wearing Mike’s skin, saying the things Mike has never dared to say out loud.

“He really does look like Mike,” Lucas breathes, as he gives Mike’s twin a scan, head to toe.
“Yeah, if Mike were way hotter and a knight?” Max chips in, and Will can vaguely hear Mike muttering again. “He looks so medieval, like he’s from Camelot or some shit.”
“I am Michael,” the knight begins to plead again. He turns his doe eyes back to Will, returning to his side like a diligent guard, even going as far as to reach out and take his hands. “Please, you have to believe me. I would never lie to you. Have I ever broken our oath? Let me prove it.”
Will was a bit preoccupied with gazing into the knight’s eyes, his cheeks flushing under the intense stare and the way his hands were held so gently. Mike had no issues ruining their moment.
“And he’s weirdly obsessed with Will.” Mike sounds even angrier than he did in the woods, and his sharp tone is enough for Will to snap out of his hand-holding to step a respectable distance away from the knight. “We need to send him back to wherever he came from.”

Maybe Will was wrong, maybe this is different than having a favorite kind of pizza. More personal. O negative sits differently in Will’s head than double black olives with extra cheese does. More intimate.
“Oh.” Will blinks again. And maybe O negative sits differently in Will’s head, because it also flows through his veins. He feels obligated to tell Mike. “I’m O negative.”
Mike’s pupils widen again. “I know.” His voice is low, gravelly.
Will’s breath hitches again. “You know?” He flinches when Mike’s fingers graze his, peeling the carton out of Will’s hand.
Mike takes a deep breath. “I can smell it.”
