Summary
Rumi has been running most of her life.
What was now something she enjoyed doing while studying for her degree, it had been a must for her since she presented as an alpha. Although she was too young to participate in the mandatory yearly Run, her appa had sat down and explained what was required of her and every unmated person when she was old enough: participate in the Run to find a mate.
Rumi had listened to every word Celine had said, stubbornly claiming at the end she didn't want to mate with anyone. Her appa had a glint in her eye, the kind that told Rumi her parent knew something she didn't, but had given her the answer to her freedom: running.
Younger Rumi had a new motivation from then on: be able to run faster and longer than everyone else in order to outlast others during the Run and remain mateless.

“I don’t think you touching it would, like, kill me. Probably?”
“Probably,” Mira repeats, entirely unimpressed. “What if we didn’t try potentially life threatening activities at 7PM on a Tuesday evening, instead?”
“Okay, but like. Have you ever read Undertale fanfiction?” Both Rumi and Mira stare blankly at her. “I’m taking that as a no. But if those fanfictions were correct, and fanfiction is rarely ever wrong, then getting your soul fondled probably feels really good.”
Rumi’s jaw drops.
Zoey smiles. “C’mon, Rumes, jerk my soul off.”
“What?!”
“Zoey, it’s a ball of light,” Mira says confidently, like she knows at all what she’s talking about. “I doubt you can even stroke it.”
As if that is at all the biggest problem with the suggestion. "Guys, please—"

Rumi can see souls, and it turns out she can touch them, too. This ability is not at all misused in any way :)

Summary

Celine tried to meet Mira’s gaze, but couldn’t force herself to. She instead averted her eyes, staring at the floor. She could feel the hunter’s stare boring right through her soul.
“Yes,” she finally whispered. “Rumi has patterns. But she is not a demon.”
“Then you’re going to explain everything, right now, or I walk. And when I tell Zoey, she will too. You know she will.”
Celine let the silence hang for just a moment before solemnly nodding in agreement. “If we’re going to have this conversation now, I’m going to need a drink first. And Zoey should be here."
Or:
Mira finds out about Rumi's patterns prior to the Huntr/x world tour, and confronts Celine about it. Secrets and feelings are revealed, and love lights the way.
