Basically, Grace gets exposed to a dangerous amount of radiation during an EVA and doesn't want to tell Rocky bc of what happened to Rocky's crew <3
THIS IS A REWORKED VERSION OF "TEMPEST" - after some comments, I wanted to keep the soul of the story, but make it more scientifically plausible. While there are still probably some inaccuracies, I still hope this isn't as messy as before.

It's not jealousy. Adrian is adamant about that. They are actually insisting that it’s not any emotion at all. Not even dislike. They are simply completely uninterested in anything that concerns “the human”.
Rocky believes them. Adrian has always been the level-headed one out of the two of them. They are too logical to be jealous. They acknowledge that Grace and Rocky have a special bond after everything they went through together and also understand that none of that will ever pose a threat to their relationship.
Neither are they heartless or ungrateful. They know that Grace is the only reason that Rocky is back at all, the only reason their star has stopped dying. Adrian has told Rocky again and again that they are grateful and happy and wish the alien no ill will. They even helped with the construction of the biodome.
And yet they have no desire to get to know Grace.

Thus, Oswell Spencer developed a new type of B.O.W., one that would prey on and only on creatures infected by the T-Virus. This would have been a most elegant solution, a killer who could clean up Umbrella's messes ruthlessly and efficiently, was there not only ever one successful test subject. Oswell eventually scrapped the program, and in that one test subject, the infant girl who had lived... he found hope.

But when the beginning of their stay is interrupted by Kyoshi almost passing out, Rangi has to take matters into her own hands so it doesn't keep happening. Seriously, you would think the reminders to eat would stick eventually; the Avatar can't be trusted to feed herself.
