Summary
So after Sam spectacularly failed to learn to let go, even after the six months long finale that put Gabriel through his own personal hell to watch, he reset things, put Sam back next to Dean, and then took off to hide until the end came because he may have resigned himself to losing his mate to Michael, but that didn't mean he wanted to be around to see it happen. So it's something of a shock for him when he comes back, expecting the Apocalypse to be pretty much over and just wanting to scrounge up what little bit of an existence he can in whatever was left, and discovers that not only has the Apocalypse not happened yet, but that the Cage didn't even get popped and Castiel and Sam are bonded and Michael knows and didn't flip his shit, what the everloving fuck?!
Gabriel's mate is at least still alive and willing to discuss the possibility of getting together, something made easier by the fact that Gabriel (unlike Castiel or Michael) has a cell phone he can use to talk to Dean so as not to risk a wingcident.

When Celestino asks if Phichit wants to detour to Thailand to abduct his sister, Phichit helps pull together the plan.
There was one unforeseeable wrinkle, but nothing Phichit can't roll with.

Tav takes a class with Gale, but to avoid any sort of impropriety that would affect any of the other students, they would not be given a grade or any kind of credit at the academy. This has the benefit of not making them feel like they have to actually try to become a wizard instead of sticking with their sorcery. Gale will reward them in alternative ways as he sees fit - and away from school.

After the Apocalypse ends with Michael and Lucifer in the Cage and Sam and Dean safely outside, things are quieting down and returning to a normal hunters' life for the boys, albeit with an angel boyfriend popping by. Then Raphael calls Castiel for a special mission - rescue Gabriel from Hell. Things go a bit sideways as Gabriel has to cope with not just the time in captivity but the misuse, corruption, and diminishing of his grace.
