Summary
Dennis Whitaker is 9 years old when he perceives himself as different for the first time.
He is 27 years old when he walks into Pittsburgh's Trauma Medical Center for the first time and is enchanted by a man twice his age.
He is not quite 28 when he fully comes to terms with these feelings and allows them to maybe grow into something real.
He is 28 when he leaves it behind, thinking it could never work out, and also when a brush with death makes him realize he'd rather it not work out than never even try.
He is 29 when he's honest with himself and the man he'd fallen completely in love with about everything.
Dennis Whitaker is 30 when he is finally, unmistakably happy.
