    Summary

This wasn’t how it was supposed to happen. He was supposed to play Romeo, or Brutus, or Hamlet, and Miles Edgeworth was supposed to just happen to be in the audience, and he was supposed to come backstage to Phoenix’s dressing room, and say something like “Phoenix, I simply must say that I am in love with you and you are the best actor I have ever seen, let’s make passionate love now and then I will propose to you after a respectable twelve months of dating.”

It wasn’t supposed to be Phoenix, sitting in a Pret-a-Manger, watching forlornly through the glass as his childhood friend/idol/rival/celebrity crush gets swarmed by paparazzi outside the Westin on 42nd St. and his agent won't even call him back.

Actors AU - Phoenix and Miles are cast in a limited-run Broadway production of Coriolanus. (Complete)

Lio Fotia: The Man Behind the Myth
    April 23, 2049
    By Benjamin Giraud

We all know his name by now. Leader of the Mad Burnish, the inferno terrorists. He had been arrested barely a week before, apprehended by Galo Thymos and Burning Rescue 3rd Division; and just hours previous, he had gone on a burning rampage through the city.

But when I first encounter him, he is bringing a water bottle to a tired volunteer. In fact, I don't even recognize him at first. Covered in ash and without the patented leather jacket, he looks like any other disaffected citizen. I snap a picture of him as has become habit, but it's only later that I truly learn who my subject is.

Lio Fotia is something else. His voice is quiet, but it commands attention when he speaks. He gives orders definitively, and when he does not know the answer he has the grace to direct you to the person who does.

Or: the aftermath of saving the world, through social media.

    Summary

By the time he rolled up to Sam's apartment building, it was going on two in the morning. It was only then, in that dim parking lot, that Dean thought to question coming here first at all. He could go to Jericho. He could figure out why Dad wasn’t answering. Only, a part of him was running down a list of possibilities, and he didn’t want to be alone for any of them:

Scenario one, Dad was fine, his phone had broken, which explained the shitty voicemail, and Dean would be showing up, against orders, like a fretful wife nosing into his business.

Scenario two, Dad was fine, he’d called with bad service to tell Dean to fuck off, and now he was ignoring Dean’s calls on purpose. Finally ready to cut a cord too-long indulged.

Scenario three, Dad was not fine.

    ----

A canon rewrite AU diverging from the events of Some Cruel Tide, in which a shifter disguised as his father used Dean's blind obedience to molest him. By the start of S1, Dean's relationship with his father is more strained, his devotion more intense, and his life consumed by the need to hide the parts of himself he is most ashamed of.

    Summary

“You know what kept me going, century after century?” Hob is angry enough, desperate enough, that his voice drops low, quiet. “Even when I had nothing?”

The music around them crests, waves crashing against the unyielding shores of time –

    “Chimneys,” Morpheus answers, bland.

    Oh, what a bastard.

    --------------------

Or, dreams are memories, Hob reflects about life, and Morpheus learns a thing or two about what it means to be saved, and to be loved.

    Summary

After the camera crew and interviewer bids them goodbye, Satori takes them back to his apartment.

“Why do you feel bad?” Wakatoshi’s hand settles against Satori’s thigh. Jesus. Fucking. Christ. “You have many friends, Satori. To you, our friendship is likely not as important. To me, you were the first person who wanted to know me, save for, perhaps, Sakusa. You made me feel …” He seems to struggle with his words for a moment, before he dips his head a little. Satori marvels at the clear sign of embarrassment. “You made me feel less weird. I never had many friends, and I still don’t. You were my first best friend.”

Suffice to say, Satori is speechless.
