Frank Langdon looked down at his feet, shaking his head slowly. Mel found herself walking over to him before she had even decided to move. They stood alone, together in the silent bay.

An alternate universe in which 12-year-old Melissa King meets a strange boy in the woods behind her home. Over the course of the carefree summer they spend together, the unlikely friends begin to realize that they needed one another more than they knew.
