Summary
“What the fuck are you doing here?”
Dunk shoots up, hitting his knees against the wooden table and the cooks going rigidly against the wall. It’s late. Incredibly so. The moon hanging high up in the air and the whole castle silent except for the owls and guards walking.
“M'lord,” he stammers and catches himself.
Maekar regards him with an almost acidic annoyance, but there’s tiredness too. One which Dunk has known from a full day’s ride on horseback. “I’ll ask again, why in seven hells are you here?” He looks around his sides and Dunk quickly answers.
From time to time, Ser Duncan returns - he brings back home a son and slowly, eventually, he also is returning something else belonging to the same prince.
Or in other words, Dunk finds a place in Summerhall and Maekar finds his heart again.

Summary
It did not matter what Aerys thought about the name. If it was the name of the person solely made to be Baelor's other half, then everything about them was for Baelor's sake. Not for Aerys', nor for his opinions. Dunk surely was the greatest, kindest, and most honourable person in the world.
Names could be simple, names could be complex, names could be deceptive. The will of the Gods was not always so straightforward.

Summary
There is something wrong with Maekar. Baelor has known it from the moment of the first charge, when the horn sounded and Maekar… did not ride. Did not move at all. It is difficult to see what he is doing exactly, through the thick fog, but it is clear he is not moving.
Baelor shifts targets, taking Aerion off his horse in a shower of spear shards before Aerion and Dunk can even meet. He looks once at Maekar, still on his horse, before he wheels around. He cannot focus on Maekar. This is not like Redgrass, his task now is not to reach Maekar, not to defend Maekar. Not to help. Here, they are on opposite sides, and Maekar… whatever is wrong with him, it’ll keep until Baelor has the chance to deal with it.

Summary
From the time of the Andals arrival in Westeros, and the beginning of knighthood in the kingdoms, it is a well-kept tradition for knights to not only swear their oath to the seven, but to preserve a record of the great feats of their own master and his predecessors by way of adding in lines. As such, the lineage of knight to squire is preserved through the memorization and passing of these vows, and while the words are kept secret from all but their own cohort, knights who share the same oathkeeping lineage...
... There are only a handful of famed chivalric lineages that are confirmed to still exist today, most notable amongst them is the oath taken by the Dragonknight Ser Aemon Targaryen, currently preserved by his three known squires, King Daeron Targaryen the Second, his son Prince Baelor Targaryen, and Ser Robyn Rhysling. As with most lineages, it is likely there are other knights within the cohort , but those names have since been lost to time.
