Summary
They are no longer just speaking as Naruto, nor Gaara. They spoke for the Leaf and the Sand. Naruto risked a devastation to such hard-wrought bonds if he faced up with Sunagakure’s council members. If they didn’t listen to Gaara, they sure as Hell wouldn’t listen to him.
“Then, let’s prove it!” Hands slam on the table, and Naruto lifts himself from his seat. There’s the graceful curve of his muscles, the smooth edge of his prosthetic, and Gaara cannot help but find the warmth of his cheeks growing ever the more prominent as he calmly looks up to meet his gaze.
“…What do you mean? They’d take any ‘coming out’ as a sudden avoidance to getting married.” Gaara says. “Lying to the council isn’t an option, either.”
“I mean… do we have to lie? We’re friends, yeah?”
The Sunagakure Council intends for Gaara to get married. Live a happy life, as his father did, and have a nuclear family of his own. Gaara can't quite say no. Naruto knows just how to help him.

Summary
Sunagakure was a village utterly riddled by poverty, and even the Kazekage family went without. Still, they were happy. Largely. In the mass of inflation, outbreaks of war and the ever-looming threat of Shukaku, the Kazekage family maintained a semblance of normality amongst it all.
But then there was Gaara.
Tiny Gaara, half-baked, and like any newborn, barely cognizant of the world around him. Rasa had described his cries as shrill, restless and outright painful. The way in which his face reddened and spittle oozed down his mouth and onto his pudgy body, desperate and yearning for the affection and skinship of a parent, was met with the cold stare of his father who had seemingly outright rejected him.
On the day of Karura's funeral, Rasa allows himself a distraction.

Summary
Gaara, in all his time as a shinobi, has faced worse.
There have been matters of gouging, impalements and gashes. He has died once, and the sensation of being reborn back into his own body was far from pleasant. Life in Sunagakure, though initially unhappy as it may have been, had rendered him with a poison resistance not yet birthed by mithridatism. In short, Gaara was hardy, and it was to the annoyance of any soul that had ever tried to kill him.
That wasn’t to say it was without humiliation.
When Gaara comes to, he is graced by the darkness of his own eyelids and the coolness of a tile floor. In a way, it was a relaxant for his tensed body, but a harrowing reminder of a casual visit gone awry.
When Gaara is faced with poisons of his own villages creation, his immunity takes the brunt of the blow. Unfortunately for him, it gives way to some lesser known side effects.
