“Are you excited?” Heather saves him, leaning over to snag the tickets out of Billy’s hands. “Don’t know if you noticed big guy, but we only have a couple of days to get to San Diego. We head out in the morning, we wanted to leave it until the last minute, so you didn’t have to wait.”
Billy takes a deep breath; annoyed that it still comes out shaky on the exhale. “You wanted to get the jump on me more like.”
“Well, there’s also that,” Robin says with a grin. “No chance of backing out now Hargrove. We’ve got a road trip planned!”

“You know, this thing you have with that guy is quickly beginning to cross the line from cute to creepy.” Robin says, sideling up to him with Heather, a girl she met earlier hanging off her arm.
“I’m not a creep Rob, I just –”
“Dream of all the ways you want blondie to dick you down,” Robin wrinkles her nose in disgust. “Trust me. I’ve heard it all before.”

He’s always so fucking tired now, it’s almost like when the shadow left his body it took everything that Billy had left with it and only left him with only two things: numbness and fear. He tries for Max, can tell the kid’s practically vibrating with the need for Billy to be normal again but he’s performed so many versions of Billy Hargrove over the years that he’s not sure which one is real anymore.
The newest flavour of the bullshit that is Billy’s life is the whole being fucking kicked out thing. The first night that his dad dragged him out of bed and directly out the front door had been enough of a surprise that Billy felt something other than his two stock emotions. Shock.

“How about some coffee in your sugar?” Billy asked in a deadpan voice.
He didn’t mean to be rude. Billy was a ‘live and let live’ kind of guy, and he was more amused than offended by Pretty boy’s tastes, even if the mere thought of drinking such a concoction was enough to nauseate him. However, he couldn’t help that his tone was curt when he addressed him. First, Billy had to interact with the customers without having had time to mentally prepare for it beforehand, and second, he was out of sorts because of how hot the guy was. The truth was that, if Billy could usually charm the pants off of anyone, he was absolutely useless when it came to men he really did find attractive. Life was a bitch, sometimes.
