Summary
The cultural learning curve, and the processing of...all of it.
It’s a learning process, trying to acclimate to the Ground’s customs when all Rudo has ever known is the culture in the sky. It’s a learning process the other way around, too. The Cleaners want to know about him as much as he them.
It’s also a learning process trying to navigate it all without Regto. Somehow, the memories of his dad are still everywhere, even now. All he can ever do now is hold on to them and try to stay afloat.

“I killed the same man who wronged me. You’re trying to kill people who remind you of the soldiers who hurt your family. How are we the same?” Jordie asked him. No answer came. Twisting the knob, he pushed the door open. “Trust me, Helvar. You can kill every single Grisha in this world… and you would still hear your sister scream at night.”

Summary
“Are we just destined for this?”
“For what?”
“Loneliness.”
“Yes,” She says immediately. It’s the most honest she’s ever been with him. “Gods and shinki— we’re all destined for loneliness. We’re dead, we have no ties to the human world. We exist to serve and protect, we aren’t allowed to exist for ourselves. It’s why we need each other.”
“I don’t need a god, Kofuku.”
“Maybe,” She says, and it’s clear she doesn’t believe him. “But you need someone.”
And she’s right, he knows she is. “I don’t think I’ll ever have anyone.”
“You will.”
“How do you know?”
“You will,” She says, like it’s a promise.
or: a name is something only a master can give and, despite craving it, he’s decided to renounce the only beings capable of giving him one. he’s lost everything to the gods’ whims too many times to count, and refuses to go through it again. if only the child god would stop making it so damn difficult. yato is reincarnated, clueless, childish, innocent, and— and craves family in the same way he does. they’re not a perfect match, they might never be, but they learn to be a family anyway.

Summary
This might be the last story I ever tell. Definitely the last story I will ever type on this laptop, as I plan to chuck this cursed device into the nearest pool of acid the very second I send this draft to Calliope for proofreads and erase this whole episode from my memory. Hermes said it would do nothing to destroy any of the actual content on it, as everything is “stored in the Cloud” nowadays, but go for it man, get it out of your system. Lately, everybody’s been telling me to go for it man, get it out of your system. They’ve also been walking on eggshells and keep giving me their therapists’ contact information.
Wow, Apollo, you may be wondering. What is this tale about? Can it really be more traumatic than your six month road trip across America, bound to a pipsqueak slave-master and fighting off such distinguished enemies as real estate tycoons, giant snakes, horse-fuckers, the specters of all your past regrets and/or mistakes, fungal acne and your toxic ex?
Yes. It can. You can stop trying to hide your glee, reader.
Apollo thought his trials were over. Well, Apollo thought wrong.
