After a disastrous mission Spock has decided that it's time to ask Jim to be his bondmate, despite the fact that they're not even dating.
Wanting to have the best possible chance of Kirk agreeing, he goes to Dr. McCoy for advice on 'Terran courting'.
After this late night meeting, Jim somehow get's it into his head that Spock and McCoy are dating... not that Spock realizes this, of course.
Hopefully this wont get in the way too much.
A/n I imagined TOS when writing this, but I'm sure you'd be fine either way

He's not quite expecting to run into Spock again in San Francisco. A second one night stand turns into a weekend, turns into a lot of weekends, turns into Bones joking that he's living half his week at Spock's apartment.
But! But, and this is very important: they're not dating.
What also turns out to be important is Spock's job, which Jim never bothered getting the details of. Starfleet Officer and a bartender-slash-bouncer? That's fine. Starfleet Academy Instructor and cadet? ...Less fine.

Kirk, face out of their superior officers’ vision, drops his mouth open in shock. He searches Spock’s features as if the Vulcan may be able to explain the current events unfolding.
“When you say cement…” Pike is speaking slowly, but there is a hint of a smile at the corners of his mouth and his eyes are scrunched in an almost pleased way. “You mean to say--”
“Jim--that is, Cadet Kirk--and I are getting married."
