"So," Shanks said conversationally while Marco retrieved a space blanket from his kit, "you just run around the woods with bone saws and scalpels, Marco?"

"You know," the Phoenix said matter-of-factly, "we're pirates. We're all living on stolen time. However much of it you get, you should try to enjoy it."
"Guess you would say that," Zoro commented, returning to his drink, "at your age."

Summary
Shanks found his hand remarkably steady as he dialed a familiar number on his transponder snail. There was a lot of yelling outside his quarters, and the masts creaked as Snake pushed the Red Force to her limit away from Elegia. Hongo was by his bed, carefully dribbling what little antidote remained in their stock past Uta's bloodless lips.
Someone picked up after two rings, and Shanks didn't bother with a greeting. "Marco," he said, "I need your help."

"You feel better after doing all that?" Shanks asked once he was comfortable, throwing his legs over Marco's. "Donating organs?"
The Phoenix had to take a moment to inventory his feelings about everything that had happened on Wano. He was happy enough to see the country liberated and Kaidou gone, but after? "Not really."
"So have we learned our lesson?" Shanks drawled.
"Shut up," Marco retorted, without any heat.

Summary
The Phoenix catches him at the docks, looking like he's just out on a leisurely walk while the Heart Pirates load up their ship. "I said I'd let you harvest some organs," Marco says cheerfully, his eyes roving over all the frantic activity around them. He sidesteps one of the Kid Pirates, ducking out of the way as they barrel by with a crate entirely obscuring their forward view. "If you're still interested," Marco quips, "I've got the rest of this afternoon."
Law had assumed that was just OR banter and hadn't given the offer much thought since he'd had the man on a table several days ago. But Marco's time is, he's found, always in high demand and since he's decided to carve out a space in his hectic schedule for Law, he won't turn it down.

Summary
Jabra sniffs the air, cocking one thin brow in Kaku's direction. "What about you, you stupid herbivore?"
"Don't underestimate giraffes," Kaku says indignantly. "A fully grown giraffe can decapitate a lion with a single kick."

Summary
The central square was nearly empty when they reached it; only the execution stand and two marines posted at its base remained. Gol D. Roger was a mountainous silhouette at the top, left on display to make an example of his rotting, bloated corpse.
Marco glanced down at Shanks when he heard the click of a blade loosening from its sheath and saw the boy's intense, dark eyes fixed on the body of his captain.

Summary
"Hey," Marco said the moment Shanks's consciousness surfaced from a pleasant dream about sailing the Red Force through a bay filled entirely with rum, "do you know a Figarland Shamrock?"
He took a while to register the question, but Marco waited patiently. After a while Shanks finally managed to respond, "You know, I develop an ulcer every time someone says the word 'Figarland' to me."

"We call the Queen Mama Chanter the Chanter," Marco, the little shit-stirrer, answered matter-of-factly, "and the Oro Jackson the Jackson. It's a Chanter that's Queen Mama and a Jackson that's Oro. So wouldn't we call the Moby Dick, the Dick?"
Rakuyo and everyone else started to laugh. "Cause it's a Dick that's Moby?" he supplied.

"We're reinstating the Pirate-Ninja-Samurai-Mink Alliance for the purposes of the Davy Back Fight," Marco said, launching straight into the rules as he set Chopper down. He had such a shit-eating grin on, eyes gleaming as he met Shanks's gaze. "As such, I'll be participating on behalf of the Straw-Hat Pirates, captained by Monkey D. Luffy."
Shanks knew his face was doing something stupid, as all his officers began to snicker, but he couldn't help it.

The first time Marco properly met Izou, they were both fifteen; Izou was clinging to Oden's back, screaming his lungs out. Very soon after that he was thrashing in Marco's talons, still screaming his lungs out and desperate to return to his lord's side as the Moby Dick pitched over the falls out of Wano and Marco dove after it.

Summary
After Ace agreed to join the crew, after the Spade Pirates were officially disbanded, Deuce properly became a part of the first division and Marco began to train him in earnest. Most of it was practical knowledge that he drilled into the younger doctor, which quickly led Deuce to the conclusion that rather than commanding respect through his competence and wisdom and strength, Marco was actually waging psychological warfare on his crew.
