    "Are we secretly dating?"

Crow pulled that same surprised expression, except marginally more bewildered, and also redder. His jaw went slack.

    "...Excuse me?"

Akira nodded sagely. "The others don't approve, of course, which is why we're keeping it on the down-low."

"They. What do you, why do you think…?"

    _

Akira Forgets. Luckily, he has impeccable observational skills. Unluckily, he has never met a bad choice he didn't take.

It’s More who mentions it, chatting idly as Will flips through one of Akademeia’s thick tomes with one hand and strokes a purring Plateau with the other. He’s had plenty to say about Brilehaven since Will arrived—delighted, half-recalled memories of youthful days by the seaside and friends he might have met there.

“There’s an Oceanan tradition, if I recall,” he says, not looking up from whatever he’s scratching away at in his notebook, “of putting a letter in a glass bottle and casting it out to sea, believing the tides will carry it to whoever the sender means to receive it.”

Will sends a message in a bottle. It finds its way where it needs to be.
