It's been two months since they escaped the circus, one month since reuniting with one another, and two weeks since Christine (formerly Pomni) took it upon herself to start exploring the old C&A offices and destroying their computers to prevent anyone else from getting trapped in the digital hell she temporarily called home. Things, however, take a wildly unexpected turn when she and Felix stumble across a computer in one of these abandoned offices and it spits out... Caine in a form nobody expects: a human boy.
An AU based on two combined AUs of mine: a human au I drew where Caine is a 13 year old boy raised by Kinger, and an AU where being sucked into the circus left the characters with subtly unsettling traits that make your average joe a little nervous around them.

Summary
Catherine's pretty familiar with the odd goings-on around her rural Northern town, as she's been here her whole life. However, when she catches sight of something even more strange in the woods on her early-morning drive home from work, she ends up caught in something she never signed up for.
While no explicit names are used, a lot of Canadian Indigenous folklore creatures are referenced. Each new creature introduction will have an explanation and a link to info pages in the end-chapter notes :)

After Jax underwent abstraction, Pomni decides that she can't just leave him like that. She eventually manages to lure him to the hallway, shutting off the lights and (once he calms down enough), hugs his abstracted form and enters his mindscape. When she finally reaches the real Jax, he finally lets himself be open to her.

Caine takes their suggestions for ‘calmer’ adventures a little too far, and now Pomni is stuck playing house with Jax for the next seven days.
An exceedingly normal house in an exceedingly normal town with the exceedingly normal understanding that she and Jax are now the neighbourhood’s blushing newlyweds.
Neither of which knows exactly what to do with that, especially after the fight that revealed parts of themselves they’d both rather keep out of sight. It’s awkward at best, and it only spirals from there.
