Summary
What he realized more recently, though, was sometimes, the space wasn’t enough. Sometimes, the body kept the score, even in kids, and stepping into the safe space wasn’t enough for them to fully drop the shield they wore outside. Or the assumptions they had about things, about what they had to do, about what they deserved.
...
It started at practice, a few weeks into their new season, when Rochelle tried to shout a direction at someone across the field and ended up dissolving in a fit of coughing instead. His catcher had never exactly had weak lungs before, so he probably should’ve known it wasn’t nothing, whatever she might’ve said as Taylor pushed a water bottle into her hands and offered they switch.
Or:
A flu makes its rounds through the team. Just when everyone thinks it's blown over, a certain new catcher goes missing at practice, and Dan realizes he has more kids silently holding in pain than he thought.
We don't write enough Taylor angst that's not somehow related to Yuwen or Ira, and I felt like awarding time to a character who's given very little of it. -

Summary
Kai heard a startled yelp and the sound of something heavy slapping against pavement ahead at the same moment she felt herself overbalance forward.
She always forgot that the road down to Yuwen’s home wasn’t completely flat, not exactly a hill, but a slant noticeable if you were skating or running.
She normally had fairly good balance, but the asphalt was slippery with water while still being uneven, and her foot caught on something - a rock, a pothole, a crack? - as she tried to steady her pace.
The road lurched toward her sharply and she instinctively threw her arms out to catch herself. A sharp pain blazed across her palms and forearms as she hit the ground. Stranger though, she felt her head and chin slam into something that wasn’t asphalt.
“Ahf- wh… owwwwww…” came a low and mournful complaint close to her ear.
She blinked and wiped the water from her face with one sleeve. It turned out she’d bumped into the slumped back of a very bedraggled Yuwen.
—
Kai and Yuwen have a race home that goes slightly awry and Yuwen learns about Kai's semi unusual way of reacting to pain.

Summary
The tiefling set their rapier down on the stone beside them, placed the two large broken pieces of wood in front of them, and pulled out their instrument.
The singing of their strings finally pierced the heavy quiet of the air as their bow zipped up and down like lightning. Soon, the wires began to glow and let off hot, white sparks.
They’d always liked the tune that came with this spell. They wished it were longer, but when it was done, a small but brilliantly warm fire was dancing cheerfully in the middle of the boards, illuminating the small rectangular space in orange light.
They held their palms out towards it with a low sigh.
The scrapes on their forearms from being knocked to the ground didn’t seem bad, though it was almost impossible to tell how widely they stretched across the tiefling’s already-scarlet skin. Their toe no longer hurt where it had collided with the stone wall. At least they’d had the instinct, in their blind rage, to kick with the foot that actually had a brown leather boot to protect it.

Summary
The first night in the lighthouse was peaceful. Despite Gem, Pearl and Grian’s enthusiasm about the idea of being the chaotic villains of the server this season, once the beds were made in their humble sandstone tower-base, all three were out like a light, thoroughly worn out from the first session. Especially Gem, whose body seemed to be having a rougher time adjusting to the new, less-polished beta world. She’d been pale and shivery the whole time, her voice raspy as if the fog of the out-dated landscapes burned her throat. Pearl and Grian hadn’t worried much, especially at Gem’s insistence that she was fine and simply needed a good night’s sleep in a proper base to get accustomed to the environment.
…
Their third teammate was curled on her side under a light blanket, protesting weakly at the cold of the cloth.
What had started as unrelenting but manageable chills had given way to a fever so high that even Grian, who naturally ran higher than most as an avian, could feel it if he brushed against her.
—
Sorta an alternate take on Gem being sick the first session of Past Life, basically just Gem getting pretty ill and Pearl and Grian worrying + some found family Villies stuff

Summary
It wasn't like he couldn't take care of himself, it's just harder without anyone else depending on you. Most foods turn from adequate to nauseating without someone else to cook for is all.
Or:
Yuwen has food issues.
TW: taste and nausea issues, food avoidance. theres no self image issues going on btw

Summary
Hello!
This is a little thing I decided to write on the side as my friend group does this campaign. The writing will likely center around my character, The Storyteller, and their interactions with the others in the party. I might give more details on them later, but for now, this is just for me to personally enjoy putting out for others to maybe get invested in as well. All in all, this will consist of short blurbs whenever inspiration for these little sillies hits.
Although this is based off of a campaign, please keep in mind that it is MAJORLY homebrew, so there will be some blatant inaccuracies to dungeons and dragons in here. Please enjoy!
