Summary
The Fourth of July is supposed to be about independence. Marcus de Clermont has been practicing his all summer. Marcus arrives at Les Revenants determined to keep the holiday visit brief, polite, and painless. The twins adore him, Diana is kinder than he knows what to do with, and Matthew keeps trying to pull him back into the family as if belonging should be as simple as being told where to stand.
But Marcus is certain Diana only tolerates him for Matthew’s sake, and every warm moment with Becca and Philip only makes it harder to ignore how out of place he feels in his father’s new life.

Summary
Percy was used to people being wary of him and judging him because of his bloodline. The divine world and the wizarding world were much the same. To him, this short trip was simply a way to protect his family. He couldn’t care less about his Hitler grandfather or the old man who had a beard and eyes as bright as stars. The number of people that snake faced man had killed was probably less than the handful of enemies he had killed. Compared to him and the rest of his family, this grandfather seemed like the better person. Demigods aren’t human, and the old headmaster would soon find that out. If he wants to take advantage of him, he’d better brace himself for the inhumanity running deep in their veins.
Harry and his friends have just discovered the secret the Order has been hiding from them: Voldemort’s secret grandson. A boy with a face identical to the demon who has haunted Ginny’s dreams for years and sent Harry into a panic. They know nothing about him except his origins. And especially, this grandson is the one from the forbidden land.

The families of young children celebrate their safety; the Elites who will volunteer have been training for this moment all their lives. But on Reaping Eve of the 65th Hunger Games, there's an accident. On Reaping Day, there's a dare which prompts Finnick to volunteer against Mags' instructions. Somehow that's all it takes for the system to start breaking down, especially for the most prominent Elite family in Four: the Crestas. Watching from home as a newly minted celebrity demolishes the competition isn't what they'd planned on.
Or: It's all well and good to live in a Career district and know someone will always volunteer. But someone has to be the person who's been told from birth that his highest calling is to be a human sacrifice.
