Johnathan shrugged, picking up one of his fries and mindlessly swirling it in ketchup. “You didn’t used to. I just thought it would all go back to how it was before.”
Nancy couldn’t help the pang of loneliness she felt in her heart at his words. Is that why Johnathan wanted her to find more friends? Was being friends with Nancy Wheeler really that bad?

Sure, she’d had a rough start with some bumps along the way. She’d nearly ended her own career by acting stupid, after all. But, as difficult as it was, she made it through.
Why did visiting her estranged father feel so much harder than all of that?
And why did she still feel as if she were missing something?

There was a particular way to be in love if you were an Upland was something Galinda had known her whole life. Upland’s (particularly those of the Upper Uplands!) were attractive, charismatic and well-liked so it stood to reason that just about everyone fell head-over-heels in love for them. Galinda herself was certainly no exception. From a very young age, little boys had their first crushes on her, and teenage girls discovered new things about themselves after spending time with her; people clamoured to take her to dinner, she never had to buy her own drinks, and with a mere flutter of her eyelashes, she could have every half-witted Ozian fighting over each other to do her bidding.
Just as every Upland before her, she had the choice of any suitor she may like.
Well.
Almost any suitor.
OR Galinda Upland tries every trick in the book to make her roommate fall in love with her.
