The thing was tall. Taller than the Orcs, taller than Uncle Izuna – who was the tallest hobbit in the Shire and was quite proud of that fact – taller than even the Men Kagami had seen at Bree today. It was tall and large like a bear, with large antlers on its head, strange matted grey strands hanging from it, no skin on its skull and no eyes in its sockets. His fur was a dirty grey, and it was wearing rags and its hands were bloody.
The clouds tore, thunder roared, lightning illuminated the skies and rain started falling. And the creature advanced, slowly, like a predator sure of himself. Kagami wanted to flee, but he was unable to move. The creature got nearer and nearer, and Kagami was sure he would die. But the creature didn’t kill him. Instead, it crouched in front of Kagami, bending forward to inspect him closely. It wasn’t threatening at all, in fact, it seemed curious.
