Summary
Emotion was power; she knew that well enough by now. If she had ever been unsure of it, ever been worried that the way of Sabrina was better, those fears had been doused by the fire she had unleashed when battling Nilfguard.
Emotion was dangerous, yes, but it was power. It gave her power.
Her emotions, her pain, her love.
Geralt – in his own way – gave her power due to what feelings he inspired in her. Cirilla – beautiful, wonderful, Cirilla – gave her power due to the care she felt for the child.
But the fourth member of their travelling party brought nothing to her expect the feeling of annoyance at his presence.

Summary
Jaskier shuffles his chair closer to Geralt’s. “I imagine this is how parents feel,” he says softly. His fingers ghost over the back of Geralt’s hand, running over scarred knuckles.
“I’m not, though,” Geralt says after a time. “Her parent.”
Jaskier clicks his tongue. “She’s yours,” he says gently. His words won’t carry over to the arena; they’re too far away. But even still, he knows how sharp a Witcher’s hearing can be. And even if Lambert is currently occupied with teaching Ciri about where to strike on a body, Jaskier keeps his voice low just in case he listens in. “In a biological sense, no. You’re of no relation to her whatsoever. But family is more than blood.”

Summary
The pair of amber eyes were unblinking. Their gaze still fixed, they grew calm like a setting sun above the coast, and Jaskier could read none of the usual annoyance or weariness in them. They were very quiet eyes, but right now, they spoke volumes.
-
Jaskier is afraid of the dark. Luckily, Geralt is there to help.

Summary
Jaskier smells like honey and oak. And something else, though, Geralt isn't certain what that is.
It was fairly common knowledge that witchers had heightened senses. Some people, perhaps, exaggerated the fact. They made claims that were not true for the sake of perpetuating the hunter’s reputations. A claim that they made that was true? Witchers could smell fear . . . and every other emotion.
And Geralt was not the average witcher, at all. He was changed more so than anyone from his school. Than any other witcher he’d ever met. His eyes were sharper, ears heard more, taste and touch would often overwhelm him if he didn’t have such control of himself . . . and then there was smell.

Summary
Jaskier is the last of his kind, the last Songbird on the Continent, but quite happy pretending he's just a human bard. When history threatens to repeat itself and finding a Songbird is their only hope, he might have to rise to the occasion regardless.
-
“A Songbird?” Geralt repeated, incredulous. “Yen, you can’t be serious about this.”
“I am,” she said. Her hands gripped her cup tightly, knuckles turning white from the pressure, but she didn’t look away from the witcher in front of her. “They’re real, Geralt. And we need their help.”
