“Don’t say that. Fuck, don’t say that. You don’t know what you’re asking for.”
“Don't discredit me. I know what I want.”
Simon jerked away from him with a snarl. “You’re gonna get hurt. I can’t control myself.”
“Then let me help you.”Four months ago, the Eridians found a human welded into a metal box on the bottom of an ocean made of human blood, and somehow that's not the weirdest thing about the man. Even after they let him out of quarantine, he doesn't talk much, and Grace keeps a cordial but distant relationship with him--until he gets sick with some mystery illness and Grace gets tasked with helping him recover, because surely he knows what to do. (Spoiler alert: he doesn't. But he figures it out.)

Summary

Twice a year, Rocky and Grace do orbital sweeps around Erid to make sure the astrophage has died for good, just to cover all their bases. But on this trip, Grace notices something he never had before. A moon, not far off, covered in an ocean of blood.
Coming in closer, the complex Eridian instruments pick up on something below. Somehow, the ship is able to tap into a radio frequency from someone on the planet. And it sounds almost... human.

Summary
On their way back to Erid, Rocky and Grace discover a mysterious box. Upon opening it, the two discover some strange changes. Well, perhaps way more than strange.
Rocky finds a new marking on his arm similar to Grace's scar, and Grace finds markings similar to Rocky's on his arms and legs.
Rocky begins to dream and can easily wake from sleep, and Grace can stay up for much longer than a normal human should.
Grace starts seeing sound when it's too dark to properly see, and Rocky starts seeing pops of colour in his sound vision.
Neither can understand what's happening to them and how they're seemingly linked together, but they know there's nothing in the world that could tear them apart.
(TLDR: This fic will include almost everyone's favourite things! Rocky learns about how Grace got on the Hail Mary (Including Rocky witnessing the memory of Grace being sent on the Hail Mary)! Grace can survive in Rocky's atmosphere! Grace will live as long as Rocky! Rocky and Adrian reuinite and Adrian meets Grace! Grace will get to go back to Earth with Rocky (for a bit and then go back to Erid)! Grace will get to confront and get closure with Stratt! Fanart included!)

Initially Based on the tumblr textpost (Unseenorchid!) because this idea is hilarious;
You can consolidate the differences between book!Erid customs and movie!Erid customs if you accept that movie Rocky is just a freak.After 40 earth years alone in the Tau Ceti system, Grace shouldn't be surprised that Rocky is quite... eccentric. Hes also extremely avoidant, emotionally volatile, and accidentally on purpose didn't disclose certain things to Grace.
Rocky is grasping at straws here. He's literally been walking around stark naked and worse, *eating*, in front of the most important alien representative he will ever meet. Adrian is going to combust. He has to explain all these issues to Grace before they get to Erid.
[Initially supposed to be a crack fic, it devolved into angst. Even I was shocked and I was the one writing it.]

The more that I think about it, the more I believe in the small possibility that my unfertilized eggs may be safe for Grace to consume. It’s at least worth trying, I resolve, as I watch him cry himself to sleep for the fourth consecutive cycle. His stomach is constricting, growling loudly. He’s been unable to keep the coma slurry from resurfacing once again.
I can detect his body shutting down. I decide I can't allow this to continue. I won't allow myself to sit by and watch idly as he dies in front of me, like so many others have before him.
Unfortunately, there is only one method that I can use to procure Eridian eggs for Grace's consumption.

Ever since Grace and Rocky landed on Erid, Rocky has been glued to Grace’s side, refusing to leave him alone. Grace is worried about his friend. Rocky has not even seen his mate more than a handful of times since they arrived. This is, obviously, a problem. He doesn’t want to keep Rocky away from the love of his life.
Grace isn’t as sick anymore. He doesn’t need Rocky at his side all the time. Grace will do what he has to do so that Rocky and Adrian can resume living a normal life together. So what if Grace struggles to be alone? This is for Rocky’s sake. He’ll be okay.
But Grace has severely underestimated how much he needs Rocky, and how much Rocky needs him.

Summary
All at once, Grace's heart feels like it's shattering. Adrian and Grace had many heart to heart conversations here in the moonlight next to the water, but they had never talked about consent and bodily autonomy in reference to Rocky's exuberance. It was here, actually, that Grace had spilled to Adrian the true purpose of how he ended on Hail Mary, even before he told Rocky.
Adrian was so steady, so logical and calm and confident, that Grace had felt safe from the moment they met and Adrian had felt comfortable enough to curl a claw around his hand.
It was this safety and comfort that led to a harebrained idea. Now that he thought it, he couldn't unthink it. He… wanted to kiss Adrian. He wanted his first kiss with another life form to be Adrian. He wanted to feel safe in his body and choices and know his boundaries would be respected.
