Simon gets thrown into Project Hail Mary because he deserves to be taken care of after the ending in Iron Lung. (basically, in other words. Simon and Grace act stupid, made everyone in Erid their spectators of their stupidity)

Summary
Eighteen Earth-months ago Rocky arrived home on Erid after saving the stars with a quirky alien in tow. Grace The Saviour soon settled down on Erid, kitted out with his own biosphere, and happily using his foreign knowledge to enlighten the Eridian masses who chose to become his students. Things were good for Grace--really good.
Then a crew of Eridian scientists performing a routine check of the solar system, monitoring how the astrophage is responding to the taumoeba, come across something especially unusual. Inexplicably, they find a displaced cluster of astrophage floating through deep space, alarmed to realise that the microbes seem to be feeding on the radiation emanating from a crudely-constructed ship of some kind, bound together by a strange organic material. Even more alarming was when they sensed *life* inside of it--*human* life.

Summary
The blond’s hands are raised up above his head, slowly, like a trail of blood from an open wound, blue eyes set on him from the ground, footsteps cautiously making their way towards Simon’s bed ladder. Simon’s knees come to curl in towards his stomach, his arm going to wrap itself securely around his legs, only for the sensation to never reach them. A quick glance to his empty shoulder, and Simon looks towards the top of the bunk, blinking away the burning in his eyes.
Ryland is approaching him like he’s a rabid dog, and, for once, Simon wishes someone didn’t see him as one that bites.
Simon wishes that he didn’t feel like a ghost walking around in his own skin, anymore. He was so, so tired.
“I’m not an animal,” Simon huffs out, turning his face towards the other human, and Ryland vaguely notes the fact that, in the light, one of his eyes looks a deep, crimson red.
“I didn’t mean to-”
“I know. Nobody ever does.”
OR
Simon has a nightmare, and Ryland has a perfect idea on how to help.
