'Merlin?' He heard a concerned voice shout in the distance. He looked up, but his vision was so blurry that he had trouble seeing Arthur walking towards him.
'Merlin what's wrong?' He heard him say. Arthur sounded worried and scared, and for a moment Merlin wanted to run to him and comfort him, but then he vaguely realized that it was about him.
'Merlin?'Or: Merlin and Arthur have been happily married for two years, the ban on magic has been lifted and after much talk and much more love, Arthur and Merlin live a wonderful life together in Camelot. But when a mysterious illness suddenly strikes Merlin, everything changes, and Arthur must fear for his husband's life.

This time Merlin did laugh.
“I’m afraid that’s my job, sire. My destiny, even”
“Fuck destiny”
Merlin dissolved into chuckles again, and Arthur watched him, a small smile in his own lips....
The king has feelings for his ridiculous sorcerer, they finally talk bout the past, and Merlin saves Arthur once again, not necessarily in that order.
