This series is mostly canon-compliant or at least canon-adjacent so you know it’s sad by necessity. We are (probably) better off with the sadness of this fic series in our lives though because it’s also rather sweet.

Summary
The first time Jayce kisses Viktor, it's on the back of his hand. The simple act is a gateway to more occurrences, and it's comfortable in every instance, because they develop an unspoken dedication to maintaining a platonic dynamic. But they're partners in science, so what's the harm in an experiment?

Summary

The hands—the suggestion of hands and fingers in a play of light and shadow—clenched for a moment before going slack again. In the long silence that followed, Jayce tried to get his bearings. They were in a cave, but the entrance was close enough for the moon and stars to cast their pale light inside. He stood slowly, using the wall Viktor sat against to balance without his leg brace. One shuffling step towards the entrance; another. The air was clear and cold, sapping all warmth from his body.
"We are a tad underdressed for the weather," Viktor said dryly, seeing him shiver.
Jayce laughed. "We're underdressed for everything except one of Count Azika's famous parties."

This time, his voice is effective. Weary but exponentially warm golden-brown eyes flit up from the mess of gears and screws Jayce is carefully accounting for, a scar-nicked brow turns up in wholesome attentiveness as he tunes in to his companion's query.
"Hm?" Comes a still partly-distracted response.
Viktor makes a little sound partway between an exhale and a chuckle.
"I said," He begins again. "I believe that I ran into an old colleague of yours this morning."
Or,
Jayce struggles to deal with an old headache. An old headache that might just want to sleep with his lab partner.
