Charlie knelt down and cupped JuanaFlippa’s face in his hands. “Flippa, I want you to know that I have only love in my heart for you. And I hope you grow up to be nothing like me.”
He pulled off his backpack, emptied his pockets, removed all of his armor, and placed all of it at his daughter’s feet, leaving only the flower she once gifted him as his sole possession. He kissed her forehead and wiped away her tears before standing.
“I will not come back until I make this right,” he declared, his voice shaking. “I promise.”~~~~
Or, Tilin is dead. It's Charlie's fault and he has to make it right.

What keeps getting stuck in Cleo’s head is, But I’m meant to be human.
It probably isn’t the most pressing thing for her to think about, but it’s true. She’s meant to be human, and this shouldn’t have happened to her. She should be dead.
Don’t get her wrong, she doesn’t want to be dead. She just doesn’t want… this either. This shouldn’t be happening to her.
But happening it is, so Cleo adapts. She’s not brittle and she refuses to die this easily.
(Sometimes she thinks she might already be some kind of dead.)
(Or, Cleo finds a friend again after leaving her human life behind)
