Ethan intended to die when he walked into the heart of the mold. Being blown to pieces to spend eternity in sweet oblivion didn't sound so bad after everything he'd seen.
Instead, he ended up in a rusty car somewhere in Romania with a crazy electromagnetic freak and a shitload of feelings that he didn't know what to do with. Of course- if he had learned anything, it was that nothing would ever work out in his favor.

Summary
Data and Geordi are sent out on an away mission because of a hail from some Starfleet personnel. When warping to the designated location where their Starfleet brethren were stationed, something goes wrong with their ship.
