It’s a day like any other when Bucky Barnes gets betrothed.
The weather is nice and sunny and Bucky’s excited to spend what little money he’s saved up on a comic that he’s been eyeing for what feels like forever. While on his way to the comic store, however, the boy hears a commotion down an alley away. Backtracking a bit, Bucky quickly spots a trio of boys around his age, all surrounding something. Curiosity immediately overcomes him and he hurries to go and see what all the fuss is about.
What he finds makes his stomach instantly twist into knots. Caught in the middle of the other boys is the smallest kid Bucky has ever seen.--
Seven year old Bucky Barnes meets six year old Steve Rogers, not knowing that the other boy isn't exactly human.

It cut Bucky to the core and he hated that more than anything. That as much as he could let Steve down, as he could get things wrong, he was still Bucky Barnes enough to care so very much about Steve Rogers.
“Steve,” Bucky said with a tired sigh, “please not tonight. I can’t do it tonight.”
“Can’t do what?” Steve asked.
“I can’t pretend tonight. I can’t be someone I don’t remember how to be, not tonight. Try me again tomorrow. I’ll muster it up, I swear. But tonight, I am so tired, pal.”

“Just yesterday. They’re- uh- not really sore anymore. Must be because of the whole indestructible thing, I guess.” Bob laughs awkwardly, feeling embarrassment drip hot down his spine at the way John just continues to stare at his body without saying anything.
The silver straight bars going through his nipples catch under the faint light pouring in through his bedroom windows, as does the outline of the matching curved barbell resting in the dip of his belly button.
