Summary
Suddenly, he’s wide awake and lunging for the phone. The alarm clock on the table reads 1:08 AM. The only reason anyone would be calling him in the middle of the night is if there’s trouble.
Something’s happened. A spike of adrenaline hits his system, and his hand shakes a little with it as he hits ‘answer’. Even as he does so he glances over at the empty space in the bed next to him, bundled high with extra blankets because Shouta runs far colder than Hizashi does.
Worry about him suddenly twists Hizashi’s gut into knots.

Steve has never won a fight. He’s had his ass kicked left, right, and center. Hell, Johnathan has kicked his ass. Steve can bat a monster, but when it comes to people? Steve Harrington has never really won a fight.
But that’s because he’s getting put in the wrong kinds of fights. They think he’s a hammer, when really, anyone who grew up BFFs with Carol becomes a scalpel.
(Dustin gapes like a fish. “Holy shit, dude…” Steve would chide language if he thought it would do anything. “You just performed real life Vicious Mockery. I think that guy took psychic damage!”)
