Summary
Hogwarts, September 1998. In a wise and cunning plan to foster inter-house unity amongst the returning eighth year students, Headmistress McGonagall has carefully chosen students from different houses to room together in the private eighth year dorms. And she is requiring higher years to attend the Yule Ball in December! She'd like to see them get through the entire school year without becoming friends with former enemies. Or, perhaps, more than friends? Well, that part was unintended and a bit unexpected, but certainly not unwelcome.

After Prince Draco put Champion Harry into an enchanted sleep for 100 years to heal his wounds sustained in the fight against Voldemort, Harry lost all of the memories of his former life as the knight at Draco's side. While traveling during the night, Harry stumbles upon a place that causes him to regain some of the memories of what he has lost.

Malfoy, visibly scarred (from Sectumsempra? from the war? from his treatment by the Ministry?) and visibly heavy-hearted (from regret? from his father's imprisonment? from how the other students torment him?) has driven Harry to distraction. It's 6th year all over again: he was rapidly becoming obsessed with Draco Malfoy. How he wishes the feeling was mutual.

When Grace gets seemingly teleported by means unknown into the SM-13 right as it was nearing The Light, both Simon and Grace have no idea what is happening. Grace knows he was supposed to be in his house on Erid, Simon knows this new guy cannot possibly be a hallucination, and Ava, upon hearing Grace ramble about theories for how he got there, knows that new guy is Smart. Could-Secure-Our-Survival Smart.

last chapter: The maple tree sprouted! Grace finally got around to testing the new regeneration abilities upon realizing he probably had them as well given Simon must've acquired them while in the sub, and confirmed that yes, he also has them. He did notice that they don't seem to revert any 'damages' already in the body, and this prompted him to reveal to Simon how he got the scars on both his arms. The humans in 40 Eridani agreed to gather for a meeting, but since that was going to take a while, Grace started to wonder if he should send a probe back to Earth; both to let them know he'd survived, and to give them a heads-up in case the humans did choose to return. Discussing the contents of the probe with Simon resulted in Grace having to reveal that he actually could've returned to Earth, but decided to go save Rocky instead. His actual holdup on the probe, however, was whether he should just announce that he now had a partner, and Simon managed to convince him to maybe be a little bit petty about how he'd disclose it.

Simon jerked away from him with a snarl. “You’re gonna get hurt. I can’t control myself.”
“Then let me help you.”Four months ago, the Eridians found a human welded into a metal box on the bottom of an ocean made of human blood, and somehow that's not the weirdest thing about the man. Even after they let him out of quarantine, he doesn't talk much, and Grace keeps a cordial but distant relationship with him--until he gets sick with some mystery illness and Grace gets tasked with helping him recover, because surely he knows what to do. (Spoiler alert: he doesn't. But he figures it out.)
