Summary
Shidou knows he shouldn’t, but something selfish bubbles up within him, clawing its way up his throat and threatening to suffocate him. This is prisoner eight, Momose Amane. Bright, yet scornful. Intelligent, yet narrow-minded. Endlessly innocent, yet guilty at the same time. But even the most rational parts of his mind can’t stave off the desire to remember, and with a deep sigh, his eyes slowly close as a painful memory racks both his mind and his heart.
Holding her, she’s bigger and heavier than the both of them were, but just as delicate. His body subconsciously takes note of her heartbeat, gently beating against his chest as his breath falls into rhythm with hers. In this moment, she truly seems like a little kid, not a prisoner of Milgram. For the umpteenth time since he’s got here, Momose Amane reminds him of his own children.
