Ren Amamiya. A lot has changed. So quick, everything shifted. Locked up and thrown away. It didn't hurt as much as it should have. He had never liked his parents too much anyway. Most formed their idea of him before even saying hello. All but one. Ryuji Sakamoto. A blonde, chaotic, energetic, kind- Ren could gush over Ryuji for days. He had loved that boy since he met him. But discovering the Meta-Verse? Seeing the raw determination of this blondie to help others?
He was head over heels. He never dared to speak a word of these feelings. Didn't have the strength. Not until that day in Mementos. Where the boy he was in love with threw himself in the path of a deadly attack to protect Ren. The image haunted him. The sound of Ryuji crying out in pain as he crumbled to the ground. Ren had never fled Mementos in such a rush.
He didn't know how it happened. He didn't know how he had gone from yelling at the blondie to kissing him. And *god*-
When the blonde didn't push him away?
He was screwed. Because he was utterly in love. In love with Ryuji Sakamoto. And he never wanted to fall out of it.

Ever since the day he met Ren, Ryuji had started questioning his reality. I mean, he questioned reality in general after all the palace and Kamoshida shit, but after that settled down, and he had a basic understanding of what the talking cat called the metaverse, (he tried not to think too hard about it) he found himself questioning HIS reality. He thought he had known himself and his preferences pretty well prior to meeting Ren. Now his raven-haired best friend, the leader of the phantom thieves, had Ryuji feeling things he thought he would only ever feel towards beautiful women.

Truth be told, regardless of what the rest of the 141 thought, I did not hate Lieutenant Riley. “Ghost,” as they called him—not that I would have ever called him that. I liked to keep as much distance between us as I could manage, for my own sake. Not because I hated him, not even because I disliked him.
Because I very, very desperately wanted something I knew I could never have.
That’s how it was in our line of work. I didn’t believe in settling down, not while in the military, and I never pegged the lieutenant as the marriage type. I was wary of even dating, even giving a slice of myself to someone for any period of time, physically or otherwise.
Except for when it came to Lieutenant Riley.
