    An older work of mine that I came back to finish! It's all done! You can read it all right now!

    The original intro:
    It's a big galaxy out there. Some one-hundred million light-years across, home to trillions upon trillions of sentients. You're one of them, a lonely human. Humans aren't good for much out there. They're not good fighters, too small and weak. Not good leaders, not clever or smart enough. They don't even have the advantage of numbers once Earth died. No, humans were good at two things. Flying and lying. Humans had a certain mixture of traits that made them more likely to be exceptional pilots: smaller bodies to withstand the G-force, an advanced sense of spatial awareness, and an odd human invention they'd mastered over anyone else, the joystick. The deceit however, was just human nature.

    Once the envy of the world, the city of Acheron now lies in ruin, gripped with violence and death. Fanatic revolutionaries control the palace, a virulent plague scours the streets, and the gods have disappeared into the high branches of their holy tree, leaving the mortals to their fate. In the sewers, a resistance movement takes hold, led by the former consort of the Vizier, working to restore order and save the city from destruction.

    A chance encounter sees the human leader of the resistance thrust together with the crocodile goddess of death. Joined by circumstance, bonded by loss, they will fight for the fate of the city, from the highest branches of the pantheon to the deepest reaches beneath the earth. Conspiracies will collide. Armies shall clash. Even the heavens may fall. . . .

    Takes place in the same universe as Abandoned. Reading the first story is not required, though it is recommended.
