Izuku is no stranger to discrimination; he's faced it ever since he had been diagnosed as quirkless. So he knows how it feels to be considered less than human from everyone else; from his classmates' mockery and beatings to his teachers' willful ignorance. It was clear just what the world thought of him. But no matter what they've said, no matter how many times they've tried to beat him down, no matter how many times Bakugo had tried to burn it out of him, he's never deviated from what he truly wants to be.
A hero that'll save anyone, especially those no one bothered to save.
Those just like him.
At least soon things will be different. With the opportunity given to him, he'll get into U.A., and once he was there, Bakugo nor anyone else will be able to hurt him anymore. He could finally feel safe for once in his life, he'll no longer have to feel afraid.
After all, U.A. is considered the most prestigious hero school in the world, they had to be better.

I've re-read this a few times and it's just as incredible every time. Exactly the perspective I want on this series.

Fantastic reaction series, the concept is the best I've seen, lots of crack feeling moments and it leans heavily into some fanfic tropes, some continuity error where certain things are said twice or characters forget things have been explained, one of the better ones out there despite all that though.

It's beyond incredible how much the author matures from the first 3/4 of the story into the rest. Early on it's mindless power fantasy stuff that I read mostly just because I was bored, but it reaches a point (when it actually starts to strongly diverge from cannon post tri-wizard) where it actually starts to get quite interesting, and the writing quality improves noticeably. Quite a reading investment to get that far, but if rolling your eyes at the early bits doesn't get you to stop reading you'll find something worth reading.
It's been a few years since I wrote the above and I mostly stand by it. The writing quality really does improve a ton as the story goes on. The author and I don't seem to see eye to eye politically considering some of their "Grindelwald has a somewhat valid point" stuff, but that doesn't take away from my enjoyment. I like this.
