Summary
Soap likes to run, it gets out all his pent up energy. Ghost likes to watch him run, sweat soaking through his shirt before he gives up and peels that off. Usually that's enough incentive for Ghost to join him, stick close, take it all in - but it's 36°C outside and somebody's got to have some self preservation.
He get's Soap to send him his GPS ping, let his boy (who's not his boy) have his little run - except ... he's taking longer than usual ... and not answering his phone.

Summary
People married by the age of 20 are exempt from the mandatory testing that connects synergetic blood matches - soulmates.
John's results are inconclusive, which initially leads him to believe his soulmate is simply yet to be added to the system. Maybe they're just younger than him - which is perfectly normal. There are other possibilities though, and as he gets older he begins to wonder. Either his soulmate died before the age of 20 or they're already married.

Summary
John MacTavish is happy with his new career, gone are the days of having to watch his friends get shot or men who looked up to him get brought back in a body bag. Things are just simpler with the fire department compared to his time in the armed forces. He has his work bestie Kyle to lean on when memories dig at him, and his relationship with Simon has progressed to the point it feels seamless.
He's happy and for once his days feel almost easy.

Summary
Below, near the river, are three of the new creatures. Their heads are bulbous, their skins sagging and bright, the same color as the fading sun-sky. They walk on two legs and carry things on their backs that have no heat. They are communicating in loud, discordant noises, rhythmic but foreign and punctuated with harsh breathing sounds.
The one that removed its shell turns to its companions, baring its teeth, which are small and white. Well taken-care of, as all predators must. Ghost chitters quietly, prowling closer, listening to their call and response. The one without its shell must be the alpha of the pack, and therefore should be the one taken down first.

The last two hours pass strangely. Fifteen minutes feels like nothing, but a single second takes forever. Ghost doesn't watch the clock for the sake of his own sanity, but he can hear its obnoxious ticking. Tick tick tock, like the seconds it took to ice Makarov and then throw himself at Soap's side, try to stem the bleeding, try to hold the pieces of his skull together. Tick tock, the handfuls of seconds it took to disarm the bomb and get medical to them. Tick tock, tick tock - the assembly of all those monitors, tubes and wires like Soap was a machine on the brink of self-destruction, a second bomb waiting to explode. The too-slow rise and fall of his chest, the manic-fast surge of his heartbeat. The long, long hours waiting to see if he'd even be able to be stabilized, rushed to surgery, the endless pacing outside of the ICU doors waiting, waiting, waiting…
Tick tock.

Sanji laughs with him. Because he can, because this place makes things feel easy, because nobody here will care if his feelings for men go beyond simple friendship. And he knows they do. Well aware this means more, that normal—read; straight—guys would not accept this being considered a date. He’s constantly teetering between right and wrong and it’s exhausting. But Zoro is right there in front of him, beautiful and kind, so something about this whole arrangement must be right.
