    Then he opens his eyes in a body that's fifteen years old, in a lecture hall in the Cloud Recesses, and Lan Zhan is looking at him with the careful blankness of a boy who hasn't learned yet what he's feeling.

    The Burial Mounds is a place shrouded in mystery. A place where those who venture in, willingly or no, never return. One thing, however, was clear; danger lurked in every corner, a playground for the resentful dead. Tales of the Burial Mounds were often used to scare small children into obedience. Tales that told of creatures coming to steal one away in the middle of the night, should they misbehave.

    Wei Wuxian had firmly decided that none of these tales did the Burial Mounds justice. Inside, thick clouds of resentful energy enveloped everything, robbing him of sight and leaving him reliant only on his remaining senses.

    He needed to survive.

    'Wei Ying'

    There it was again, as gentle as a summer breeze rippling across still water. He lay there, unmoving, a soft smile ghosting across his lips.

    When the Yin Tiger Talisman is destroyed, Wei Wuxian loses control of the fierce corpses he is controlling. The backlash destroys him, and splits his Hun souls from his body.

    Jiang Cheng wasn't trying to kill his brother. He was trying to protect him from the other sects that were seeking his destruction during the siege.

    Lan Wangji failed to protect Wei Ying. He should have been there. He should have listened to him. He should have told him the truth.

    Jiang Yanli no longer has one of her little brothers to protect. Her son will never know his Da jiujiu.

    When a stranger visits them at the Lotus Pier and tells them Wei Wuxian can still be saved, they must make a choice. To bring him back may mean sacrificing everything.

    They do it anyways.
